Scottish giant Celtic lost out twice to Ross County and Rangers in the semi final of the League Cup.
Kieran Tierney, who won the Young Player of the Year award last term, says that his target this year is to go all the way in the League Cup with the club.
Tierney was outstanding last season. He played in more than 30 games for the club, enjoying his breakthrough season. The League Cup miss was a huge miss in his story. Celtic take on Alloa Athletic in the game before a semi final of the domestic cup on Wednesday, and Tierney wants the club to make up for past losses.
“We want to win a cup. It comes quickly so if we win this we are in the semi final stage. We just want to get out and do the job. There were a few lows in Europe last year and the semi finals weren’t great. But it was an experience for me because I had never played in either,” the youngster started out. He went on to add that he felt horrible when they were defeated in the semi final, and that he never wants “to feel like that again.”
Celtic trounced Motherwell 5-0 in the SPFL. The victory extends their dominance in the Scottish League this season. They do not enjoy a perfect campaign, especially after playing a draw with Inverness thus sharing a point each. The 7-0 disgrace by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League remains fresh as well.
Tierney knows scoring against Scottish teams isn’t a problem for the squad, but mentioned that their defence is a real concern if they want to lift the League Cup this year. “We’re working on it (keeping a clean sheet) on the training field and hopefully it will come together,” the young player said.
